Ok so this is a post about another brand, Nike, and while I don't really want to feature other brands here, I just had to bring up an absurd trend in the NBA concerning players' shoes. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it in all the years I've been watching these games.
You've got fresh news focusing on Michael Jordan and "did he or didn't he?" apologize to Tony Wroten about the latter's Jordan shoes blowing out mid game. But the real question is, what's happening with all these Nike shoes? On the biggest stage for basketball, where's the quality control? Wardrobe malfunctions in sports and entertainment are nothing new but these are crazy, given the frequency (that's four already just this year!), and potentially dangerous. Imagine if the Ginobili incident happened when he was landing from a full jump.
All in all, you've got Lebron James, aside from publicly bashing his new shoe, also leaving skid marks on the floor. Manu Ginobili is the next victim with his shoe blowing out and going up his heel. Andrew Bogut's sole almost tore off and he was just half-heartedly lunging to challenge a three. Tony Wroten wasn't as lucky as his whole sole fell off in the post.
The video below gives a good summary.
