adidas has had great success and visibility in recent years from its male tennis players, especially Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. The two are already consistently taking the fight to the long-time alpha dogs, Rodger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It's only a matter of time until Djokovic and Murray themselves become the top two in the sport.
As for adidas' women athletes though, things haven't been as great. Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Kirlienko, Laura Robson and Ana Ivanovic aren't exactly making headlines. Enter: the 22 year old Romanian tennis sensation, Simona Halep. Could she be the next big thing and adidas' #1 female tennis endorser?
Halep is currently the most successful Romanian female tennis athlete, having been the first and only player from the nation to reach the number 5 WTA ranking. Since winning her first WTA title (in June 2013, Nuremberg), she won an impressive five additional WTA titles in 2013. This, in combination with her astonishing climb in the rankings resulted in her being named "WTA's Most Improved Player" as well as being named "ESPN Center Court's 2013 Most Improved Player".
