The Future Starts Now: #1 NBA Draft Pick Andrew Wiggins Joins adidas

adidas today announced an unprecedented partnership with Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 19-year-old, 6-foot-8-inch wing out of The University of Kansas is expected to make an immediate impact in the NBA with his superior athleticism, smooth transition game and strong ability to drive the lane.

This is big news for the basketball world, with many speculating where Wiggins would end up in terms of both his NBA team and shoe endorsement. We finally have our answers.

It looks like adidas is loading up on NBA talent as of late. Most still remember its long-time top endorsers, such as Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard. But some recent key acquisitions and extensions have paid off for the brand with the likes of rising stars Damian Lillard, who re-signed to a big deal, and John Wall, who transferred from Reebok. Joakim Noah was also a new face to the brand, and we all know how well the NBA Defensive Player of the Year performed last season.

With this strong rookie class, adidas made some early moves by signing the first big name in the draft - the point guard sensation from Australia, Dante Exum. Now, they have Wiggins, a talent NBA scouts and coaches have been drooling over since his high school years.
