Top NBA prospect from Australia, Dante Exum, joins Team adidas

adidas has been busy signing contracts left and right. Whether it's huge contract extensions for its rising stars (Gareth Bale and Damian Lillard) or long-term collaborations from popular designers (Pharrell Williams and Mary Katrantzou, to name a few), the brand has been busy strengthening its roster of talents.

A few days ago, adidas signed up probably their youngest talent yet - the Australian NBA Draft prospect Danté Exum. adidas has high hopes for Exum, as they've mentioned in their press release: The 18-year-old, 6-foot-6-inch combo guard is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2014 NBA Draft. Exum brings a unique skill set and background to one of the most highly touted draft classes in recent years.

This marks the first move made by a brand to sign up one of the many high-profile draft prospects this year. Based on what adidas has been spending recently to strengthen its overall roster and the opportunity it has to load up on future basketball stars while Nike's stables are already full with current NBA talent, don't expect the brand to stop with this contract signing. I bet we'll see more aggressive moves from adidas (and actually, other sports brands like Under Armour and Li Ning) with this highly touted draft.
